Notice of Race - 2008 Inter-Club Team Championship Race

The Inter-Club Team Championship Race is an invitational race held each fall on Lake St. Clair where each DRYA club is invited to send a four boat team to compete for the "best of the best " bragging rights.

During the twenty-six years the race has been held, eighteen clubs have competed, but only six of the twenty-eight DRYA member clubs have been successful in claiming that honor. The longest consecutive tenure any club has held the cup is four years.

There are four starts, an IRC start, two PHRF starts, and a JAM start. Each club enters one boat in each start. The finishing position of each club's boats are totaled to determine the club's score. Low point score wins, with ties decided by the total corrected time of a team's boats.

Without a club house, for the first many years, Lake Shore Sail Club's "Race Headquarters" was a tent set up at the end of Emerald City Harbor. With boats arriving Friday night, in early October, LSSC members started providing hot chili and soups to warm and welcome the cold sailors upon their arrival. Breakfast was provided on Saturday morning to start race day. This tradition continues today, with chili, soups, and hors d'oeuvres Friday evening and a continental breakfast Saturday morning; and, Race Headquarters has now moved inside to Jack's Waterfront Restaurant.

Flags are awarded to each of the boats of the first three place teams at Race Headquarters after the race and the Inter-Club Team Race Championship Trophy is presented to the winning cub's Commodore at Lake Shore Sail Club's Commodore's Ball in February.
