LAKE SHORE SAIL CLUB

The THRILL of racing
The RELAXATION of cruising
The FELLOWSHIP of others
It was the fall of 1968 at the Shores Inn, over a pint or two of bitters, when those who were to become the thirteen charter members of Lake Shore Sail Club (LSSC) first met and agreed on the name and developed a constitution and philosophy.

Staying true to that philosophy today, we remain a family-oriented club dedicated to providing opportunities for racing, cruising and enjoying the fellowship of others.

LSSC maintains a Coast Guard approved race course located off Gaukler Point in Lake St. Clair. Our members-only race program includes Sunday, Championship, and Special Club races.
In addition to these Club races, LSSC sponsors the popular Wednesday night Spring and Summer Sunset Series Races, which are open to all area sailors. These two six-race series attract a large number of the area's avid racers.
Our summer cruise program consists of three organized cruises to area ports over the Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day holiday weekends. These cruises include group activities such as barbecues, games, radio-control sailboat races, and, when the participants are willing, the occasional karaoke session.

Ports of call can easily be reached by boat or car, enabling all members to join in the fun.
Even though we do not have clubhouse or marina facilities, our racing, cruising and social programs provide many opportunities for interaction among members. We organize year-round social activities such as a steak roast in the fall, off-season "cruises" to local restaurants and breweries, a winter outing, and the formal event of the year, the Commodore's Ball.
