Lake Shore Sail Club has maintained a Coast Guard approved race course located NE of Gaukler Point in Lake St. Clair for over forty years. The course consists of seven 6″ diameter PVC pylons arranged in a 2.60 nm mile diameter hexagon. Our expert race committee chooses from a variety of pre-established courses based upon wind direction and speed.
The popular Wednesday night Spring and Summer Sunset Series races sponsored by Lake Shore Sail Club are open to all area sailors. These two competitive six-race series regularly attract a large number of the area's avid racing skippers. Weekly results are announced after each race at Dragon's Landing, whose kitchen is open until 2200. Series awards are presented during a FREE pizza and beer party after the Summer Series.
More complete race information can be found in the Lake Shore Sail Club Sailing Instructions: Wednesday Sunset Series.
Lake Shore Sail Club pioneered the development of the “Multi-Sail Concept” where credit is given if a boat races without the use of its spinnaker. This allows for better class splits and flexibility of sail usage to account for both crew and weather variations.
